Krkonoše are the mountains of many Czech "bests". They are the highest, most visited, the only one with an alpine landscape and incredibly varied nature. We find steep glaciers and extensive mountain meadows, rocky ridges and picturesque valleys lined with timbered houses. Listen to the sound of waterfalls and the mysterious silence of swamps and ponds. And then there is Sněžka, the magnificent queen of the mountains, who looks dignified on all her possessions.

Bundle of villages in the eastern Krkonoše

The Union of Eastern Towns of the Giant Mountains is part of Janské Lázně, Pec pod Sněžkou, Horní Masov, Malá Upa, Černý Důl, Mladé Bučko, Svoboda nad Úpou, Trutnov and Žacléř.

Pec pod Sněžkou

Pec pod Sněžkou is not only a picturesque mountain town in the valley of the river Úpa, but also an important tourist and sports center. Thanks to its location in the heart of the Krkonoše National Park, our town is an ideal place for a combination of experiences and relaxation. For lovers of active holiday, Pec pod Sněžkou offers a wide range of possibilities, which in the winter season dominates one of the largest ski areas in the Czech Republic with 11 ski slopes, and in the summer season mountain hiking. The main attractions are undoubtedly the views - whether from the peak of Sněžka or the lookout tower on Hnědý vrch, where visitors can take the chairlift or the ridges of our most beautiful mountains while traveling through virgin nature. In the town, consisting of two parts (Pec pod Sněžkou and Velká Úpa), there are over 600 inhabitants. Most of them work in tourism-related services.
